The Children’s Register is the primary tool for managing daily attendance of children at your nursery. Staff members use this interface to sign children in and out, track attendance, manage absences, and view real-time occupancy statistics.
Overview
The register is accessible through the Register tab in the mobile app. It provides a comprehensive view of all children scheduled for the day, their expected arrival and departure times, current attendance status, and room assignments.

Accessing the Register
- Open the mobile app and ensure you’re signed in
- Tap the Register tab at the bottom of the screen
- The register displays today’s date by default
Understanding the Interface
Date and Room Controls

At the top of the register, you’ll find:
- Date Selector: Tap to view attendance for different dates
- Room Filter: Filter the list to show children from specific rooms
- Add Booking Button (Manager only): Create new attendance bookings
- Staff Register Button
Live Attendance Statistics
The register displays real-time attendance counts organized by age groups:
- Under 2s: Children under 24 months
- 2 Year Olds: Children between 24-35 months
- Over 2s: Children 36 months and older
- Total: Overall attendance count
Each age group shows:
- Current attendance count
- Expected attendance (on current day only)
Children’s List
Each child entry displays comprehensive information in a compact format, allowing you to check a child in and out and more.

Child Information Section:
- Profile picture (on larger screens)
- Child’s name and room assignment
- Expected arrival and departure times
- Birthday indicator (cake icon on birthdays)
Attendance Controls:
- In Button: Sign child in with current time
- Out Button: Sign child out (only available after sign-in)
- Absence Button: Record absence for the day
Signing Children In and Out
Signing In
- Locate the child in the register list
- Tap the “In” button next to their name
- The system automatically records the current time

Sign-in is captured with the exact current time. If you need to adjust the time later, tap the displayed time to edit it.
Signing Out
- Find the child who needs to be signed out
- Ensure they have already been signed in
- Tap the “Out” button
- The system records the current time and updates the display

Managing Absences
Recording an Absence
When a child will not be attending:
- Locate the child in the register
- Tap the red absence button
- Complete the absence form:

Absence Details:
- Start Date: First day of absence
- End Date: Last day of absence (can be same day)
- Type: Choose from Holiday, Sickness, or Other
- Notes: Optional details about the absence
- Tap “Save” to record the absence
Viewing and Editing Absences
Children with recorded absences display differently grayed out appearance with reduced opacity to indicate they are not expected in.

To edit an existing absence:
- Tap the absence indicator showing the absence type
- Modify the details in the form
- Save changes or tap “Delete” to remove the absence
Adding Notes
Notes allow you to record important observations, incidents, or communications about children.
Creating Notes
- Find the child in the register
- Tap the flag icon (notes button)
- In the notes modal:
- Enter your observations or messages
- Notes are automatically associated with today’s date
- Multiple staff members can add to the same child’s daily notes

- Tap “Save” to store the notes
Notes are visible to all staff members and can help with communication between shifts and teams.
Room Management
Switching Room Views
The register can filter children by room assignment:
- Tap the room filter button at the top right
- Select from available rooms:
- All Rooms (default view)
- Individual room names

- The list updates to show only children assigned to the selected room
- Attendance statistics update to reflect the filtered view
Room filtering is particularly useful in large nurseries or when staff are responsible for specific areas.

Opening Profile Details
To view comprehensive information about a child:
- Tap on the child’s name or profile picture
- The child profile modal opens showing:
- Full contact information
- Parent/guardian details
- Medical information and allergies
- Dietary requirements
- Collection Passcodes
